Johannes Kepler, one of the most important and influential scientists of all time who had a fantastic intuition that let him to his groundbreaking discoveries about space and our solar system said something beautiful about the modern musicians of his time: "they are the first in which the universe is truly reflected..." Nature, he attests to them, "through your polyphonic melodies, has entrusted to the human spirit its very innermost secret". If I read this I have to think of Bach who lived 100 years later. I´m sure Kepler would have been a big fan of him.

I read an interesting article at the german magazine "Spiegel Online" today with the title: "Billionaires will not save us". It is about the attempt of some well known billionaires like Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos to save the world from the catastrophic consequences of climate change and environment pollution by colonizing our solar system or inventing something big and heroic. Nobody really thinks about the simple and somewhat unsexy solution of simply changing our behavior and economic system which is based on exponential growth and as a result exploits the resources of the planet to its collapse. "There is no glory in prevention". They kind of try to save the world with the same methods that destroy it which obviously cannot work. Try to imagine that you have to continue your life on mars- a deadly desert where you never can go out of your life-suit as soon as you go out of your house. Totally absurd and uneconomic as well. Why not rather change our way of living on earth and enjoy this beautiful planet. 

Some music can make us more aware of our feelings and help to make us more sensitive and therefore is in my opinion an important medium to change our sometimes very egocentric, competitive and destructive view of the world.

An interesting article at spiegel online: "Why noise makes birds go dumb": manmade noise can reduce for birds and other animals and insects the ability to find food and to find a proper mate by 50%. The scientist, behavioral biologist Christopher Templeton from the Pacific University in Forest Grove Oregon, who made the study got the idea since he couldn't concentrate properly because of fan noise in his office. Maybe this is also why I feel that more often than not quiet, gentle and peaceful music reflects the experience of being in nature better than loud urban beats.

This is the first post of my "SINGING UNIVERSE" blog. I´ve had the idea for this website for a long time and finally the only way to get it realized was to just do it. I'm sure there are people out there who love the power of nature as much as I do and that love music and art. So I hope we can connect. I hope you enjoy the music and the videos and I'm looking forward to make a contribution to the media world that I think is unique and enjoyable for a lot of people and helps to get us through this uncertain, and for some people scary times in a positive way.
